Coverage of Icelantic's winter of the rocks at mission ballroom

My fist show of 2023 was Icelantic's annual winter show has landed at Mission Ballroom in Denver, Colorado. The 11th installment of the winter show features artists that could melt the polar caps. Local artists like Jacoby (@jacobyintotheam) and Housewife (@djhousewife) held it down for Colorado. While our guests Sam Blacky (@samblacky), Channel Tres (@channeltres), and headliner Alison Wonderland (@alisonwonderland) brought the heat we needed on this 10* night in the mile-high city. The night started with high energy which only picked up as the night went on. Everyone brought their own individuality to the show keeping the night fresh and interesting. The master of individuality during this show was Channel Tres offering a true live performance with backup dancers and all. The night ended on a high with Alison Wonderland bringing down the house with fresh mixes and cult favorites alike.

Jacoby

Jacob Actkinson AKA Jacoby (@jacobyintotheam) was first on the bill for the night. Originally from Grapevine, Texas this now Denver local artist set the mood for the night with high energy and a full set of energy.

Housewife

Housewife (@djhousewife) followed Jacoby keeping the show going with high energy. Layering in classics with fresh takes Housewife put up a set perfect for this audience.

"Influenced by the sounds of 90's house, progressive, and tech house, the Denver-based DJ and producer’s signature style exudes euphoria with hints of groovy nostalgia. Housewife has taken the stage at legendary venues in the United States including The Ogden Theatre in Denver and Academy in Los Angeles. I can't wait to see her more!"

sam blacky

Samantha Black (@samblacky) kept the party going with her hit after hit set. The dance vibes really kept the crowd moving and pushed us all to that happy place.

"She is a multitalented DJ/producer and creator who really fell in love with producing and performing music after spending several years in Australia. Since 2017 she has performed live across the world. She also released her first EP on her own label, Stabby Records, and continues to bring us hits."

Channel Tres

Channel Tres (@channeltres) was a perfect live performance act for Icelantic's Winter on the Rocks. This was by far my favorite part of the night. The unique sound and live performance left the crowd really wanting more. I have found a new artist to stan over. His ability to transcend conventional music genres makes him very enticing and his live performance was a welcome difference from watching people behind a table.

"Channel Tres has blended the drive of Detroit techno and the silky smooth grooves of Chicago house with the snarl of West Coast rap. For Channel, music is about reconnecting with his own history, whether it’s in his lyrics, or through the influences and musical history he uncovers in his productions. It was Channel's voice that truly opened the door for him – an effortlessly deep baritone that drapes itself over his instrumentals, appearing and disappearing in service of the song like a modern-day James Brown."

Alison Wonderland

When Alison Wonderland (@alisonwonderland) graced the stage the cheers were loud and clear. We were all there to see her perform a set we would all remember offering highs and lows in energy really bringing you on a journey. Fresh new mixes kept everyone on their toes wanting more. Her set was the perfect closing to show with confetti canons to ensure that climactic ending.

"Alison Wonderland architects a world of her own design as its chief author, creator, and voice. Since emerging in 2009, the Sydney-born and Los Angeles-based singer, producer, songwriter and DJ's sound has quietly inched towards mainstream ubiquity as the sonic sorceress received the “Highest Female DJ Billing Ever at Coachella” label, captured #1 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart twice consecutively, headlined sold out arenas around the globe and clocked upwards of 500 million streams."
